International
Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD),
the United Nation's agency for extending soft loans to countries for agricultural
development projects, and World Food Programme (WFP), the food aid
organization of the United Nations have entered into a partnership in India
to synergise their activities towards the common goals of poverty
eradication and food security.
|
|
While IFAD has no field presence in the
country, WFP has over the years acquired considerable operating strength
through the network of its own offices, its institutional partners in
the central and state governments and its many community based and NGO
collaborators. |
|
The
partnership between the two agencies involves sharing of logistics
infrastructure and joint funding of projects, supervision and advocacy.
